Questions about selling your device

If the answer you need is not here, email us and a person will reply.

Prices and quotes

How is the price for my device worked out?

The price is built from your device itself, not an estimate. You pick the exact model, then answer a few questions — storage, memory, carrier, cosmetic condition, whether it powers on. Each answer adjusts the figure on screen straight away, so you can see what a scratch or a bigger drive is actually worth before you commit. There is no call back and no haggling: the number you see is the number we offer.

How long is my quote valid?

Your price is held for 30 days from the day you accept it. Send the device within that window and you get the amount you were quoted, even if the market moves in the meantime. If it arrives after 30 days we price it again at the current rate, which can be higher or lower — so it is worth posting it reasonably promptly.

Is the quote a guaranteed price?

Yes, as long as the device matches what you told us. We inspect it within one business day of arrival and check it against the answers you gave. If everything lines up, you are paid the quoted amount — we do not shave the offer for arriving late in the day or for normal signs of use you already declared.

What happens if my device's condition doesn't match my quote?

We send you a revised offer explaining exactly what we found and what it changes. You are free to say no. If you decline, we post the device back to you and the return shipping is on us — you are never stuck choosing between a lower price and paying to get your own device home.

What does "unlocked" mean, and why does it change the price?

An unlocked phone works on any network, so it can be resold to anyone, anywhere. A locked one only works with the carrier it is tied to, which shrinks the pool of buyers and therefore the price. If you are not sure, check Settings — on iPhone look under General then About for Carrier Lock, and on Android under Network settings. Picking the wrong one is the most common reason an offer gets revised.

Why do storage and memory change the price so much?

Because they are the parts nobody can upgrade later. A 1TB laptop and a 256GB one are the same machine to look at, but the larger drive is worth substantially more second hand, and on most modern laptops the memory is soldered in. The same applies to phones and tablets. It is worth checking the exact figure rather than guessing — on a Mac use About This Mac, on Windows use Settings then System then Storage.

Do I get more if I include the charger, box or accessories?

Often, yes — where an item affects the price you will see it as its own question, with the amount it adds shown next to it. Only send what you ticked. If you leave the charger out of the quote, keep the charger; it will not be counted and it will not be returned separately.

Can I sell a device with a cracked screen, or one that won't turn on?

Usually yes. Damaged and non-working devices still have real value in parts and materials, and most models have a condition option for exactly that. Pick the honest option — a device declared as broken and priced as broken goes through without a hitch, while a device declared as flawless and found cracked has to be requoted.

Sending your device

How do I send my device to you?

Once you accept a quote we email you a pre-paid, insured, trackable shipping label. Put the device in any box you have, pad it so it cannot move around, stick the label on and drop it off. That is the whole process — you never buy postage or arrange a courier yourself.

Is shipping really free?

Yes, in both directions. The label we send you is pre-paid, and if you turn down a revised offer we pay to post the device back as well. There is no listing fee, no commission and nothing deducted from your payout for postage.

Is my device insured while it is in transit?

Yes — the label we send is insured and trackable, so the parcel is covered on its way to us. Packing still matters: put the device in a box rather than a padded envelope, and use paper or bubble wrap so it cannot slide about. Most transit damage happens to devices sent loose in a soft mailer.

How do I track my package?

The label we email you is trackable, so you can follow the parcel from drop-off to arrival with the carrier's tracking number. We also confirm by email when it reaches us and again once the inspection is done, so you are not left wondering where it is.

What if I don't have a printer?

Get in touch and we will sort it out — we can arrange a label you can show on your phone at the drop-off point, or post a printed one to you. Not having a printer should never be the thing that stops you selling a device.

What should I do with my SIM card or memory card?

Take them out before you pack the device. Your SIM is tied to your phone number and a memory card usually holds your photos, and neither adds anything to the price. Check the tray and the card slot — a card left in a device is easy to forget and difficult to get back.

Can I sell more than one device at once?

Yes. Quote each device separately so each one gets its own price and its own condition questions. If you have ten or more, use our bulk page instead — larger lots are priced as a batch, which normally comes to more than the individual quotes added together, and we arrange collection for you.

Getting paid

When will I get paid?

We inspect your device within one business day of it arriving, and if it matches what you told us your payment goes out within two business days of that. For most people that is under a week from posting the parcel. We email you at each step, so you always know which stage your order is at.

How can I get paid?

Choose PayPal, Zelle, Venmo or a direct bank transfer — you pick the method when you place the order. PayPal, Zelle and Venmo usually land fastest because they settle within hours once released, while a bank transfer follows normal banking timescales.

What if I entered the wrong payment details?

Contact us as soon as you notice. If the payment has not been released yet we simply correct the details on your order and send it to the right place. Once a payment has gone out it is much harder to pull back, so it is worth checking your email address, PayPal address or bank details before you confirm the order.

My payment hasn't arrived — what should I do?

First check the inbox you used for the order, including spam, since we email a confirmation the moment a payment is released. If it has been longer than two business days since your inspection was confirmed and nothing has landed, contact us with your order reference and we will trace it.

Everything else

What devices does MyTechWorth buy?

Phones, laptops, tablets, desktops, smartwatches, games consoles, cameras and audio gear. That covers well over a thousand specific models across every major brand — Apple, Samsung, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus, Microsoft Surface, Sony, Nintendo and more. The quickest way to check yours is to search for it; if we buy it, it is there with a price.

Do I need an account to get a price?

No. Pick your device, answer the condition questions and the price appears immediately — no sign-up, no email address, no waiting for someone to call you back. You only give us your details when you decide to go ahead and sell.

Why should I create an account?

It makes everything after the first sale easier. Your orders, quotes and payout details are saved in one place, so you can check the status of a device you have posted without digging through emails, and your next quote takes a fraction of the time because nothing has to be typed in twice.

Do I need to erase my data before I send my device?

Yes, please do — it is the one step we cannot do for you beforehand. Sign out of your accounts first, then factory reset the device. On Apple devices turn off Find My and sign out of iCloud; on Android remove your Google account. A device still locked to an account cannot be processed and has to be sent back to you, which delays your payment.

Is it safe to sell my device to MyTechWorth?

Posting a device you own to a company you have not dealt with before is a fair thing to be careful about. Everything is designed so you are never exposed: the price is shown up front rather than negotiated later, the parcel travels insured and tracked on our label, you are told what we found before any money moves, and if you do not like a revised offer the device comes back to you free of charge.

What happens to my personal information?

It is used to run your order — pricing it, shipping it and paying you — and that is all. We do not sell your details or pass them to anyone who is not part of getting your device processed and your money to you. Our privacy policy sets out the detail.

I'm not sure which model I have — how do I find out?

On an iPhone or iPad open Settings, then General, then About, and read off the model name. On Android, Settings then About phone. On a Mac use About This Mac from the Apple menu; on a Windows laptop press the Windows key, type System Information and check the model there. The model number is usually printed on the back or underside of the device too.

Can I sell ten or more devices at once?

Yes — that is what our bulk service is for. Send us the list and a relationship manager comes back within one business day with a price for the whole lot, which generally beats what the individual quotes add up to. We arrange collection and insure it for the agreed value, and you can ask for data-destruction confirmation and serial-level reporting.
